Applications for Thermal Recovery

The TRU's capacity to process a broad range of waste streams provides for marketable applications that are as diverse as they are beneficial. These include:

Waste Stream Reduction

The TRU is capable of recycling tyres and rubber, plastics, sewage sludge and contaminated soils as well as processing municipal, medical, industrial and field wastes. Waste volume may be reduced by as much as 95% via the thermal recovery process.

The TRU also provides additional savings by eliminating a number of costs associated with handling and processing wastes, including packaging, storage, transportation, insurance and disposal.

The TRU can also help to extend landfill life by reducing waste volume and is ideal for small and island nations that have land, power, and space constraints.

Waste to Energy

The TRU not only works to reduce waste streams, it also isolates harmful greenhouse gases and has the ability to generate electricity, all in the same process.

One of the most exciting applications for the TRU is converting tyres to energy. Tyres provide a near limitless fuel for the TRU and each passenger car tyre contains the energy equivalent of 7 litres of oil. The TRU can process this fuel very efficiently while sequestering harmful greenhouse gas emissions at the same time.

Biochar

The market for biochar, particularly for use in soil enhancement, is growing rapidly world-wide and while regulation and certification of this product is in the early stages of development in Australia, biochar is now recognised under the Federal Government's recently introduced Carbon Farming Initiative. This will effectively allow producers to enter the carbon credit market under the proposed Federal Carbon Tax.
